According to my dictionary Strive means to put forth strong effort or to struggle vigorously!  I believe that is what we need to do in today’s world, there is so much corruption. We really need to put forth that extra effort to do what we believe is right. Most people have to struggle vigorously just to get by, paying bills, etc.  People are losing their homes, marriages are breaking up, children are left alone, and there are so many street people! It isn’t really safe to walk down the street alone at night anymore! I can remember many years while living in Fredericton, walking home after working all evening , those 13 blocks were quite dark at that time and I was scared out of my wits when I would meet an old drunk coming towards me!  Now this didn’t happen very often as I would cross over the street before he got to me, so it wasn’t too bad.  Today I wouldn’t think of walking from downtown  Queen Street to uptown Dundonald Street late at night!  Drugs were not even thought about back in those days, only alcohol!

There was a time right after we were married when we were striving just to get by.  We had three children under four years of  age and Roy wasn’t making over $75.00 a week, but we got through that time with the help of the Lord!  Roy even built a house, himself, along with our Pastor’s help! Roy wasn’t a carpenter but with determination, he finished the home we have today! He went to the woods and cut the trees, took them to the mill and sawed them into lumber and built our home!  But he had to strive to do this!  There are all kinds of things people strive for, the Olympics, the Hall of Fame, at work you strive to get ahead, you strive to reach the top and all the millionaires strive to make more money!

So few people stop to think about Heaven! Jesus said in Luke 13:24 STRIVE to enter in at the strait gate:for many I say unto you will seek to enter in and shall not be able. He goes on to say When once the Master of the house is risen up and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without and to knock at the door, saying”Lord, Lord ,open unto us” and He shall answer and say unto you, “I know you not whence ye are”. Then shall ye say “we have eaten and drunk in thy presence and thou hast taught in our streets” But He shall say “depart from me, I know you not, all ye workers of iniquity”. “There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out. And they shall come from the east and the west, from the north and the south and shall sit down in the kingdom of God.”   Friend, wont you strive to enter in before it is too late?  One door and only one, and yet it’s sides are two. inside and outside.on which side are you?  one door and only one,and yet it’s sides are two. I’m on the inside, on which side are you?

I have always loved my bread, especially homemade bread, with lots of butter spread over it! I always ate it with most everything, even pancakes, until my husband broke me of this habit as he never cared for that much bread and still doesn’t. I know bread is good for you but you should limit your intake of it as bread can be very fattening!  I like bread for every meal, including a snack before I go to bed.  I really don’t think one slice every meal will do me any harm, it’s just what you put on it that helps to put on the fat.  I dearly love sandwiches but my friends laugh at what I put on them! Although my favourite one is bologna with a slice of cheese and mustard (lots of it)!  My nephew, Lorne, loves to make different breads, which they love, and usually we get to try it too!  My husband likes to make bread too, and he is really good at making it. He prefers to make whole wheat bread since that is his favourite.   I can remember when I was just a child that Mom made bread every day, except for Sunday.  She had eight of us to cook for and it seemed we always had company,  so she had extra to cook for, when I stop to think of all she had to do I really don’t know how she ever kept up with it all!  Everyone loved her bread and rolls!

Have you ever stopped to think and wonder about how Jesus multiplied the five loaves and two fish to feed five thousand men beside the women and children that gathered that day to listen to His message? The Bible tells us this true story in Matthew chapter 14 starting at verse 15. Again in chapter 15 in that same Book it tells us that He fed four thousand men beside the women and children with seven loaves and a few little fishes and they did all eat and were full and they took up of what was left seven baskets full! Again in St.John 6:35  Jesus said “ I Am the bread of life, he that cometh to me shall never hunger, and he that believeth on me shall never thirst”!  Jesus is the greatest Miracle Worker of all times!  In fact, He is the only one who can take care of all our impossibilities! We all have our impossible things, whether it be physically, spiritually or mentally! Won’t   you try Jesus for yourself?

He spoke the Word calmed the water! He walked upon the stormy sea! He spoke my name when I was lost in sin and shame, Jesus, the man of Galilee!    Oh, honey in the Rock, Sweet honey in the Rock!  Oh, it taste  like honey in the Rock! Oh. taste and see that the Lord is good for it taste like Honey in the Rock!     He’s my bread when I’m hungry, my water when I’m thirsty, He’s my shelter in the time of storm!  He’s the lily of the valley, He’s the bright and the morning Star!  Jesus, Jesus, Jesus!  He’s my Lord!

How often do we  talk about someone we love? It could be a boyfriend or maybe our husband even. So many times we find ourselves in a conversation with somebody and before we know it somehow the conversation  turns to our husband or boyfriend, {depends if we are married or not}. It really doesn’t matter, if we are in love, we may tell all the  good things we can think of about that person!    I, myself, have a wonderful husband  and if I started to write about all the great things he has done for me I could just go on and on! I know a lot of people who could do the same thing.

However, I would like to take this opportunity to talk about someone else who has been extra good to me! His name is Jesus!  He is the best friend anyone could ever have!  He came to earth as a babe in a manger, He was born to a poor family, although He was a King! His own people rejected Him,they didn’t want anything to do with this man!  He loved them still and prayed  “Father forgive them for they know not what they do” when He was dying for them on the Cross of Calvary! He not only died for them but looked ahead and saw that we too needed forgiveness and took our sins to the cross with Him!  His love is Agappa love and is so much higher than any other kind of love! Oh, how He loved you, Oh, how He loved me! Oh, how He loved You and Me! That is why I love Him so much and want to talk about Him all the time!

Jesus is coming for His people very soon and He said His Spirit will not always strive with man!  So I would advise you to come to Him when you feel His Spirit tugging  at your heart  strings. It would be a  terrible thing to come to yourself  and  to realize the rapture has already  taken place and you are left behind in this old sinful world and  there is no place to hide!  Won’t you fall in love with Him today and cry out ‘ Lord , please forgive me of my sin and help me!” You would make Him so happy and you will be so  glad you did!  He is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother!

Let’s talk about Jesus!  The King  of kings is He!  The Lord of Lords supreme throughout  eternity.  The Great I Am. the Way. the Truth, the  Light, the Door! Let’s talk about Jesus, more and more!

I remember when my boys were born and time seemed to pass by so quickly and they were young boys in school.  The next thing I knew they were in  high school and it seemed almost the next day they were graduating! I could say then” behold the man”!  A lot of things happened between  the time they were born and that day when I said “Behold the man!”  I especially remember they both had so much sickness and the times when the Doctor told me he didn’t know if they would make it or not! Talk about a feeling of hopelessness and tears!   But when I turned to Jesus  he heard my cry and brought them through these terrible situations! Thank the Lord they are still living today!  If I hadn’t known Jesus Christ back in those days I really don’t know what I would have done!   Now not much is said about Jesus after his circumcision until he was twelve years old and, as was the custom, his mom & Dad took him to the feast at Jerusalem. When they had fulfilled  the days and had gone a days journey and that night  they thought he was in the company with relatives or friends but when they couldn’t find him  they went back to the temple looking for him. They found him in the temple sitting with Lawyers and Doctors hearing and answering  questions!  She probably thought “Behold the man!                                                                                         The next thing we hear of Him coming to John’s baptism to be baptized of him.Luke 3;22 says and a voice came from heaven saying :thou art my beloved Son, In thee I am well pleased! chapter 4, And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost was led by the Spirit into the wilderness being 40 days tempted of the devil. Everything Satan  said to him, Jesus answered with scripture and won the victory. After this Jesus was led by the Spirit into Galilee and his fame went out throughout all the region round about and He taught in their synagogues being glorified of all.He turned to the book of Isaiah  and read ^The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor he hath sent me to heal the broken hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the Blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.  To preach the acceptable year of the Lord! And then he said “This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.”. Behold the Man! It wasn’t very long after this that they wanted an excuse to  put Jesus to death, even though while He was on earth He went about doing good! The Jews still don’t believe that Jesus is their Messiah, but one day they will! When He turns away from the Gentiles back to the Jews the time for the gentiles to get right with God will be ended and Jesus will return for His people!  I want to ne ready to Behold the Man!

Behold what manner of man is this who stands Twixt God and man, whose eyes are as a flame of fire, whose sword is in His hand He’s the Lion of the tribe of Judah and the Prince of Peace is He!  Behold what manner of man is this?  What manner of man is He?

He is Lord of Glory! He is the Great I AM! He is Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End!  His Name is Wonderful!  The Prince of Peace is He!  He’s the Everlasting Father throughout Eternity!

I remember when my children were small, and we would be going down the road in the car, all three in the back sear, we wouldn’t get very far when I would hear “Mom. make him stop touching me!” The boy’s loved to tease each other, along with Cindy! I would have to separate them but within a few minutes it would start all over again!

Perhaps you have been so lonely and thought :if only I had a friend to clasp my hand , just to feel their touch and know that somebody cares for me!”, or, you may have been in a store and someone may have come up behind you and laid their hand on your shoulder and it would pick your spirits up almost instantly!Sometimes we sing that chorus, Just to get a touch Lord from you, helps me with the hard trials  I go through! Though dark may be the night, It brings a ray of light, When I get  touch , Lord. from you!

It is so good just to feel His touch! Another one is: Touch me. Lord , with your spirit, touch me lord just one more time with your power! For you’ve touched you so many times before and now I’m  asking you once more to reach way down and touch me one more time!

Sometimes it takes some  effort on our part!  We should reach out and touch Jesus!  I was reading  in Mark 5:25-34 about a certain woman who had spent all her living on doctors but  nothing helped her. One day she heard that Jesus was passing by and said, if I may touch the hem of his garment I shall be whole! So she cane in the press behind and touched his garment and straightway the fountain of her blood dried up and she felt in her body that she was healed of  that plague after 12 long years!  Jesus himself, knowing that virtue had gone out of Him turned around ion the crowd  and said “Who touched me?”  His disciples said unto Him “thou seest the multitude who throng thee, and sayest thou Who touched me?And He looked around about to see her who had done this, but the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done , came and falling down before Him, told Him all the truth. And He said unto her  “ Daughter, go in peace, thy faith hath made thee whole!”  I can just imagine  how happy she was that day!  That day they brought unto Him all that were sick with all manner of diseases and as many as touched Him were made perfectly whole!

Touching Jesus  is all that really matters! Then your life will never be the same!  There is but only one way to touch Him, just believe when you call on His name!

Have you ever gone out in the Spring of the year and found that your yard was just covered with leaves? You just automatically grab your leaf rake and start raking and bagging those leaves, with an energy you didn’t realize you had, you just want to get your lawn looking nice!  You had plans to get the first of the garden started as early  as possible and now this!  The wind blew hard last night and the trees were bare of all the old dead leaves but your yard was full of them! They tell me that the old dead leaves make good  fertilizer if left on the ground, but who wants to wait for them to decay? My husband set out some Amarilla plants in November which  should have been in bloom for Christmas but they didn’t blossom in time and only produced more leaves. He also planted some radish in pots thinking they would bare fruit but no, only leaves! Looking out my window now I can see leaves coming on the apple tree in front of my window!  I hope this tree will bare fruit when fall comes!

In Mark chapter ll verse 12 it tells the story of the fig tree.  Jesus had come unto Bethany with the 12 disciples and it says on the morrow when they had come from Bethany that he was hungry and seeing a fig tree afar off, he came, if haply might find anything thereon, but when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves, for the time of figs was not yet, and Jesus said unto it, no man eat fruit of the tree here-after forever!  In the morning as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots, and Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away. And Jesus answering sayest unto them, have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, that whosever shall say unto this mountain, be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which saith  shall come to pass, he shall have whatsoever he saith.  Therefore I say unto you, what things soever ye desire when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

Lord, I don’t want to dry up and wither away as that fig tree did, but I want to be filled to overflowing with your Spirit so that I’ll be ready to go when you come for me!   Lord, stir me with your message one more time, it’s been so long since I’ve been stirred within.  Take me back once more to Calvary, that’s where your message stirred me!

The longer I serve Him, the sweeter He grows. The more that I love Him, more love He bestows.  Each day is like Heaven, my heart overflows.  the longer I serve Him the sweeter He grows!
