When I  was a child my Dad had horses which he kept fenced in.  Down over the hill was the horse pasture where the fence was.  I remember running down the hill and turning summer saults over the  gate polls.  Then I would just love to sit there by myself and watch the horses!  Sometimes my Mom would have to call me for a meal. Of course, I had more balance in those days, I could never even sit on that fence now! I guess I was sort of a tom boy back then, but that was also a gathering spot for our neighbour”s children too!  We had so much fun playing games and just talking until we would hear the call for bedtime!  It is so different for children today, Most of them don’t know how to make   their own fun times but have  to be entertained most of the time.  When I think back it was a dangerous place! to be, especially if the horses were around, sometimes they could be sort of wild!  If old Jim came toward me I was  gone in a flash, I was really scared of him!  While reading in Matthew chapter six today I started thinking about sitting on the fence,  Most of the time it is better to be on the inside of the fence where you are more safe from wild animals! This makes me think of the song that Bro. Ray Priest used to sing “I’d rather be on the inside looking out than to be upon the outside looking in, For the lions took lock-jaw and they couldn’t raise a paw, for the Lord he placed a lock on the lions chin! The song was about Daniel in the lion’s den. However,in Matthew  chapter 6 Jesus was giving His sermon on the Mount and in verse 24 He said no man can serve two masters , for either he will hate the one and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and   despise the other. ye cannot   serve God and mammon!

You may have heard someone repeating this phrase when talking about someone who perhaps started out serving God but was now just sitting on the fence, not quite sure of what they really wanted to do, It isn’t good to be sitting on the fence as that is where Satan can get to you easiest!  If you have started to serve the Lord you should serve him with your heart, mind and spirit, in other words with all that is within you! That is what He wants you to do,  In Saint John 4:23 & 24 Jesus said “But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers  shall worship the Father  in spirit and in truth for the Father seeketh such to worship Him. God is a Spirit  and they that worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in truth.”  When Jesus, Himself, says this there is no way we can dispute it!  If you are like most people who think they are good enough the way they are living as they aren’t doing anything that is too wrong, and God is a God of Love and wouldn’t send you to hell, you had better get on your knees and cry out for His mercy! He is a God of Love and doesn’t send people to Hell, He went to the cross of Calvary for each one of us,but, we send ourselves there! We must accept Him as our personal Saviour and obey His command if we want to go to Heaven! We must be born again of the water and of the spirit!  There is a song that  says trust and obey for there is no other way to be happy in Jesus but to trust and obey! Then with fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet as we walk by His side in the way. If we do His good will He’ll abide with us still .  If only we trust and obey!  Please don’t sit on the fence any longer!

I have a Father
He calls me His own
He’ll never leave me
No matter where I roam

He knows my name
He knows my every thought
He sees each tear that falls
And hears me when I call

I have a Maker
He formed my heart
Before even time began
My life was in His hands.

Yes, He cares, I know He cares…

Perhaps you had waited and waited for him to come, and finally you went to check your calendar.  Yes, this is the day he promised to return for the marriage.  You are all ready for him and you start wondering what is keeping him?  Just then she heard a car coming up the lane.  Yes, he is here! He kept his promise and you are so happy you trusted him! You go running down the stairs as fast as your legs will go and then he swoops you up in his arms!  You have waited and watched while getting prepared for your bridegroom and now it has paid off! This reminds me of the story Jesus told in Matthew chapter 25 of the ten virgins, five were wise and five were foolish. The ten took their lamps and went forth to meet the Bridegroom.  While they were waiting for him to come they fell asleep and the foolish virgins didn’t take enough oil for their vessels.  They tried to borrow from the wise virgins but they refused saying lest we don’t have enough for you and ourselves. Go to those who sell, and buy from them.  While they were gone the Bridegroom came and took the five wise virgins in the house and shut  the door! When the five foolish virgins came back they found  themselves locked out.  When they wanted in, the Bridegroom told them to go away, he never knew them! They must have felt terrible but they should have had their vessels full of oil!

In John  chapter three we read how Nicodemus, who was a ruler of the Jews, came to Jesus by night as he apparently didn’t want to be seen with Jesus!,  He asked Jesus “What must I do to be saved?” Jesus answered “Ye must be born again!”   Nicodemus asked, “How can I be  born again? Can I enter the second time in my mother’s womb?”  Jesus said “Ye must be born of the water and of the spirit!” I’m sure that if Jesus told him how to be saved it is the same today as He has never changed his mind!  We must repent of our sins, as we were all born in sin and shaped in iniquity! Then we must be baptized in Jesus’ Name. By immersion in water to have our sins remitted or washed away, He then fills with the gift of the Holy Ghost! We are then sealed by His Spirit which is the earnest of our salvation!  I want to keep filled to overflowing with His Spirit so that I will be watching and waiting for His return!  He will soon be here!Born again,There has really been a change in me! Born again just like Jesus said! Born again and all because of Calvary! I’m Glad, so glad that I’ve been born again!  Ye must be born again! Ye must be born again! I verily, verily say unto you “Ye must be born again!”  Friend, don’t you want to be ready to meet Him? He will soon be here!

I want to be ready to meet Him by and by!  Oh, I want to be ready to meet Him in the sky!  I want to be more like Him and do His blest command for I want to be ready to meet Him in the Glory Land!
