Are You Connected

It seems we hear these three words more often than ever before “are you connected?” It was it was in the year of 1952 that electricity came to our home! We didn’t have to clean lamp shades every single night any more! My what a difference, everything looked so bright! Finally we were connected! This then led to other improvements in our home! Today if we lose the power for even a few hours it seems so dark, we almost panic! We need power for almost everything today. If our younger people had to live without electrical power I really don’t think they could do it! I get a touch of nostalgia when I think back to those olden days! Of course, we went to bed much earlier but arose earlier in the morning too! Most work was done in the light of day! Then there was a different kind of darkness, just as There is today! This darkness seems to be so thick and dense and is called evil or sin, it is really the power of Satan at work in this old world we can’t hardly force our way through it! This kind of darkness is so black! We may sometimes think we just can’t get through , we can’t see our way too clearly! But Thank God, we have a way out of it all through the precious blood of Jesus! We don’t have to stay trapped in Satan’s snares any longer! We don’t need to fear this kind of darkness any longer as Jesus , Himself told us in Matthew 11:28-30 “Come unto me. all ye that labour , andare heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn of me, for I am meek and lowly in heart, and ye shall find rest unto your souls, for my yoke is easy and my burden is light!

“Come ye sinner lost and hopeless, Jesus blood can make you free, For He saved the worst among you when He saved a wretch like me! Oh I know, Yes I know, Jesus blood can make the vilest sinner clean, Oh, I know, yes I know, Jesus blood can make the vilest sinner clean!”

Have you ever stopped and wondered about our God?  I heard recently about a child who asked his mother “How big is God?”. His mother andswered “He is so big He fills the Heaven and Earth!”.  “Oh no,” said the little one “He is just tiny!”. “Oh,” said the mother, “How did you figure that one out?”. “Well,” said the little one “If Jesus lives in my heart, He isn’t very big!”. I guess that is just how some people look at Jesus the Great Creator! They just try to figure Him out which is something that we cannot attempt to do with out little frail human minds.

The God that we serve is so big and so wonderful! There is just no one else like Him! Acts 4:12 says neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under Heaven given among men whereby we must be saved.

I like the little chorus we sang in childrens church. “My Gods so tall we can’t get over Him, so small, we can’t get under Him, so wide, we can’t get around Him. No, we must come in at the door!” “How big is God, how big and wide His vast domain. To try to tell these lips can only start. Hes big enough to rule this mighty universe yet small enough to live within my heart!” “My God is bigger than all my problems, bigger than all my fears. God is bigger than all my mountains that i can or cannot see. God is bigger than all my questions, bigger than anything. God is bigger than all my mountains that i can or cannot see!” And how big is your God?

I feel really blessed today as I live in a blessed Province in a blessed Country! We sometimes find fault and complain about a few things but when we stop and look arouind this old world  and see all the confusion, we can feel really blessed! I am not rich and perhaps not all my wants are met at times but I do have all that I need!.  There  are so many today that doesn’t have a place to live or food to eat  Just about every day we hear of tradgedies caused by earthquakes, tornadoes, floods or fires that we just don’t want to listen to the news anymore!

It seems to me that people go to extremes on both ends of the  economy! There are those who can enjoy the pleasures of this world, example -buying $200,00 tickets for to see a play or hear a band and all the while perhaps their family are starving then again the parents may be spending all their money on dope, drugs and alcohol!  It is no wonder there is so much depression today. While listning to a talk show on the radio the other day they were saying there is one in every thirteen who suffers from depression!

The Bible tells us in 2 Timothy 3:1-4 that in the last days perilous times shall come…….vs.4  men shall be lovers of pleasure more  than lovers of God!  Psalms 33:12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, and the people He hath chosen for His own inheritance!

” I am blessed, I am blessed! Oh everyday that I live I am Blessed  When I wake up in the morning or I lay my head to rest.!  I am blessed! I am  blessed! “

“Thank you Lord for your blessngs on me! There’s a roof up above. I’ve a good place to sleep! There is food on my table and shoes on   my feet! You gave me your love ,Lord, and a fine family, I  just thank you Lord, for your blessings on me!”

I read a true story the other day about a little boy in a foreign land who one day fell ill. The mother was a poor woman but did all she could to get him to feel better but he quickly became worse until he passed away. This poor mother was so distraught she didn’t know what to do! Sometime later one of the citizens of the community came by and saw that she had covered the body with a blanket and was standing guard over her son. This person told her that a missionary was in the territory and they would pray and her son could be healed, Right away she sent for the missionary who came and as they were gathered around praying someone saw the boy’s eyes blink. He then rollede over and sat up wondering what had happened! The people began to shout “He’s
alive” and began to praise God for this miracle! What a mighty God we serve! He is still able to raise the dead!
I also read a story in the Bible about a man named Lazareth who
was a friend of Jesus and had taken sick and died. The sisters sent for the Master to come but he delayed his coming. On the fourth day He told his disciples that “Lazareth sleepeth, they said if he is asleep he doeth well’Then Jesus said, “Lazareth is dead and I am going to Him” When Jesus got to where the sisters lived Martha said to him, “why didn’t you come when we called?”  She ouldn’t understand why He came so late. Jesus wanted to know where they had laid him and they told Him “it is too late anyhow, by this time he stinketh, he has already beem dead four days!”  The Bible tells me that Jesus wept! St.John 11:35. The Jews said my, how He loved Him! I believe Jesus wept because they didn’t have faith in Him as they should have had!
He went to the tomb and told them to roll way the stone which thry did. He then spoke snd said “Lazareth, come forth!” Can you imagine the excitement and the joy when LAZARETH stood before them! He was bound in grave clothes but JESUS said “Loose him and let him go!” I can just imagine them shouting “He”s Alive!
Not too long after this Jesus was taken by the Roman soldiers and was crucified on the cross of calvary for our sins! The Bible tells us that the one who knew no sin took our sins on Himself so that we could have pardon and enjoy eternal life with Him, through out the countless ages of eternity if we would just believe on Him! He shed no tears for himself but shed as it were grest drops of blood for us! He was persecuted for no reason other than the Jews did’t want Him as their King! Can you just imagine the excitement when Mary Magadaline aqnd the other Mary went to the tomb on the third day and found that Jesus was Alive!   How they must have shouted for joy “He’ Alive. He’s Alive! Thank You Jesus for taking my place now I don’t have to worry about where I will spend eternity! Jesus , I love you!
Jesus dsid it for me. I”m so glad Jesuis did it for me. if your bounf He will set you free, because Jesus did it for ,me.  What He sid in His woord is true, anything in His name He will do and I know that he’LL do it for you because Jesus did it for me!
