I’D RATHER!

Some people prefer to live in the city and I can understand if they have lived their lives there, they would be so bored if they lived in the country! In the city they are always closer to the doctors, dentists, grocery stores, and most everything they need. There isn’t much in the country to entertain most people!

I would rather live in the country. I may not be the most sociable person and it doesn’t take a lot to entertain me!I have never cared for t.v. or movies but would rather play a simple game. I did live in the city for a few years before I was married but was happy to move back to the country and settle down. I’d rather let my children grow up in the country as we both did.

There was a time when I thought I would like to have a lot of money, maybe even win a lottery or sweepstake, as I, like most people, thought I could do so much with a little money! I am certainly happy now that I never did, as the older I get the more afraid I am of having money in the house. I would rather have a little to meet my need than to get hit over the head by a slug thinking I had money.

I’d rather live in Canada than any where else in the world! I love the four seasons and can’t sand the heat of the south or the bittter cold north. I’d much rather be right where I am on the bank of Little River in my little humble home than any place in the world!

I really don’t know what Heaven will be like as I can’t imagine a place where there is no sickness or pain and where there will be no more dying but I’d rather go there than stay in this old sinful world and be destroyed by fire. I would rather live for the Lord now than to live for Satan and spend eternity with him. I would rather live and reign with Christ throughout eternity.

"I’d rather have Jesus than silver or gold, I’d rather have Jesus than riches untold". "I’d rather be an old time Christian than anything I know. I’d rather be an old time Christian with Christian love to show. I’m walking on the King’s grand highway and I’m telling everywhere I go that I’d rather be an old time Christian than anything I know."

Many people enjoy the pleasures of this life. They call it living life to the fullest!

Have you ever gone to work and had a co-worker come in looking so tired and sick – because as they say they had a wonderful weekend! They may even begin telling horrific stories about how drunk they were and so on. I remember one who was laughing so hard and thought it was really funny that they had gone to a party and had a drink or two to many. This person couldn’t remember going home. They actually had to be carried from the car and put to bed only to wake up the next morning feeling terrible. I just couldn’t imagine that being a nice way to spend some time with friends. I think that today instead of getting drunk many people get high on drugs and then with glassy eyes and slurred speech they will be laughing and trying to tell those who will listen all about it.

Perhaps you too, have heard them say "I’m going to live as if their was no tomorrow!" So they smoke, drink, do drugs run with another’s spouse, and gamble, while sometimes for some of these people there will be no tomorrow sad to say. What a wasted life! Lost without Hope or God! If only they had called upon Him while they still had time but they made their choice and it was the wrong one, they found that out but it was too late!

If you really want to live life to the fullest you should start your day by snuggling up with the Lord , read your Bible and pray, invite Him into your heart and let Him lead and guide you. He will change your heart completely taking away all sin and without any shame and withdrawal you will feel clean and pure within! This is when you can start living life to the fullest! You will feel good inside when you don’t feel good physically. God is so good to us all the time and He wants to be your friend!

Living by faith in Jesus above. Trusting confiding in His great love. Safe from all harm in His sheltering arm. I’m living by faith and I feel no alarm!

Running a race

                                                               RUNNING A RACE !
When we turn our  radio on, a lot of the time we hear on the sports channel, about someome who has won a race one way or another.I heard recently about the man who sailed solo around the world andbis own record. In fact I believe it was a talk show that I heard him on  on. It seems as if somebody is always trying to outdo someone else or to even break their own records!  My brother-in-law used to tell us stories about when he was horse racing  on the Fredericton exhibition grounds. I used to like to  watch horse racing and I also liked to watch the canoe races on the Nashwaak River.. I guess I just plain liked racing, except what I think they called Drag Racing where cars pile on top of each other and someone gets hurt or  cars  ruined.  When we were children on our way home from church, when we reached what we called the top of the big  hill, as it was dsownhill all the rest of the way to our house, we would all break into a run to see who wuold get there first.t loved the feeling of my feet floating through the air!  In elementary school my friend Bev and I would have races which mostly ended in a tie. as she could run as fast as I could.  I just lovedto run! There is another race that I am running!  If there was ever a race that I wanted to finish and to win the race, it is this one!  I think I will call it Life’s Race!  It is a Race that we all must run.!  In an ordinaary race if we want to win we must give all our strength or our best in order to win!  There are certain rules to follow along the way and is these rules are not obeyed  even though we may get to the finish line first, we willl not win the race!.  Even so we must do our best or strive to finish this race.  In Luke 13:24 Jesus said to Strive to enter in at the strait gate, for many, I  say shall seek to enter in and shall not be able.!  Ecclesiaastes  9:11 tells us that this race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding , nor yet favor to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all! The next verse also tells us that man knoweth not his time when it falleth suddenly upon him! 2 Corinthians 9:24-27 says Know ye not that they which run in a race, run all but one receiveth the prize? so run that ye may obtain. Verse 26 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly , so fight I , not as one that beateth the  air Verse 27  But I keep under my body and bring it into subjection; lest that by any means, when I have preached to others I myself should be a castaway!    Hebrews 12:1 says Let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.  So folks we can’t give up now  to strive means’ ‘to try hard or struggle for’ according to Websters.Jesus is comong soon and we don’t want to be found walking on the broad way to destruction . It just isn’t worth it as the pleasures of this life are only for a season but the prize is for all eternity! .  The  Bible tells us to PRAY without ceasing.  Just keep holding on  to  His precious Hand and let Him lead us to our Heavenly Home! I keep holding on to Jesus, I keep holding on to Jesus.  I keep holding to that precious nail  scared  hand.Though I can’t see my way too clearly, and my        feet become so weary,  I keep holding to that precious nail scarred hand!

When I was just a child we had children’s church and if we were faithful for 13 weeks we would receive a reward the following week. I always loved going to children’s church although we would have to walk approximately 2 kilometers as we had no car back then. To get there we walked though a lot of woods. Quite often in the summer we would see a bear. Sometimes we’d go into the mail lady drivers’ home, she told us that she would bring us home on her mail route. She was probably sorry that she ever told us this as it happened quite often. Right here, I’ll leave this subject and go to another one just for a minute. Sis Tapley was a kind mail lady that would drive us home and her husband Clarence had a wooden leg. Well, her son -in-law was pastor of the Chipman church and every once in a while she would get me to set with her mother in law who was bed ridden while they went to service in Chipman. One night she left her son Glen home. I was always terrified of false teeth and wooden legs, things like this. Clarence had put his extra wooden leg in the wood box behind the stove and Glen had got the leg and chased me through the house while I was screaming my head off and he was laughing so hard. Mrs. Tapley probably wondered what was going on although when never ever mentioned it to me. So back to the story. Easter was coming right up ad whoever was faithful for 13 weeks would get a huge Easter basket. At that time there must have been 15 or 20 children and they all wanted that huge tempting looking basket. Every week they would show us the basket and say, Now whoever doesn’t miss one week before Easter will get this basket. I was determined to have that beautiful basket. I remember one Saturday I wasn’t feeling very well at all but I went anyhow and it paid off to be faithful. When a young person starts to date I’m sure they would want that special someone to be faithful to them and to have eyes only for them. They too, should be faithful to their special person. It works both ways. I am one of those fortunate people who have never had to worry about where he is or show is is with. He has always been faithful I also have another very best friend who is so faithful to me. His name is Jesus and I know have told you about !!Him before. I love Him so much so much that I love to tell others about Him too so they can also have Him as their best friend. He and all Heaven rejoices when one person invites Him into their heart to be their Friend and Lord. I want to be faithful to the end of this life and I’ll get my reward for being faithful. I’ll never forget what You’ve done for me I’ll always remember how You set me free Down through the years You’ve never failed me yet Lord, I’ll never forget.

Have you ever felt as if nobody cared? I am sure we have all been there more than once! After all we are still human and haven’t yet put on immortality. Now I am not complaining really as God has been so good to me but, being human, I have to admit I do get rather down some days. I am not going to give a lengthy spiel here but when you wake up in the morning and don’t feel like putting your feet on the floor and when you do they feel like you are trying to lift a ton of lead, it is somewhat discouraging to say the least! It is at times like this that we have to think of others as we can always find someone who is worse off than we are.I also find that if I call upon the Name of Jesus He will always help me and makes me feel so much better! Well the other day was one of those days but my Friend knew all about it and just what I needed right then so when I opened my computer There was a comment that went like this’ May the pain you have known and the conflict you have experienced give you strength to walk on through life facing each new situation with courage and optimism” I just had to Thank Jesus for being so faithful and using someone I didn’t even know to help me,that day.You are right on time! This old hymn instantrly came to my mind. ” Sometimes I feel discouraged and think my life in vain, I’m tempted then to murmur and of my lot complain, But when I think of Jesus and all He’s done for me. Then I cry O Rock of Ages. hide thou me! O Rock of Ages. hide thou me. No other Refuge have I but thee. When life’s dark vail I wander, far, far away. Then I cry O Rock of Ages. Hide thou me! We will understand it all better bye and bye!
