10:55 AM

Are you as dependent upon highway signs as I am? It seems they are most everywhere, except when we need them most and then it seems there are none to be seen! My husband says that if I turn around I get confused and don’t know which way to go, Really I don’t think I am quite that bad, although I do get easily confused when it comes to directions!

I will never forget the day Roy took the family on a little vacation. We went to Halifax! Well, we went directly to Citadel Hill but lo and behold there was no place to park and a no stopping sign everywhere we went! Finally he was so frustrated. By this time, he said, "that’s it , we are leaving this place right now! We started out again, still no place to even pull over and stop the car, at last he found a service station. In he went and asked for a map, They told him he could have it for five dollars! I don’t care if it cost me fifty he said, I just want to get out of this place! So that was our big trip to Halifax! The rest of us were so disappointed! Needless to say, we have never gone back! If only there had been more signs it would have made it so much easier.

We are travelling on life’s highway! ,It seems there are so many side roads and turn-offs on this highway but there are many signs telling us to do this or that, that we should go here or there. Satan has a plan to destroy us at the end of our destination. We must not turn or even look to the left or the right! Just keep right on walking by faith with our eyes on the goal!

In Matthew 16:1-3 the Pharisees and Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven. He answered and said unto them’ when it is evening ,ye say, It will be fair weather for the sky is red, And in the morning it will be foul weather today , for the sky is red and lowring, O ye hypocrites ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times? " In Matt.24 Jesus told them the signs of the end time. In verse 12 he said because iniquity shall abound , the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end the same shall be saved!

I just want to keep on travelling this highway of eternal life because it will be worth it all in the end when we see Jesus !

Signs of the times are everywhere. There ‘s a brand new feeling in the air! Keep your eyes upon the eastern sky. Lift up your head, redemption draweth nigh!

TOWERS!

I’ve always been facinated by towers! I really don’t know why except that I would like to go up in one and look far out into the distance! When I was just a child there waa a tower on Route l0 highway. This tower always had a man in it, and one day as we drove by he must have been just going to work and he was going up the ladder! It was called a Look-out Tower and if there happened to be a fire , the watchmnan was always the first to see it and alert the firemen! In the heat of the summer it was inhabited day and night, In those days many men worked in the woods with chain saws. and so many smoked cigarfettes and would carelessly drop the butt on the ground, or perhaps just a glass bottle left on the ground and the sun shining on the glass would cause a fire to start! It must have been such a lonely life to be a watchman, also very boring sitting there day and night! However it made us feel so much safer to have a watch tower on guard all the time!
I hve never been in the CN Tower either, I have heard quite a bit about it. At one time it was said to be the tallest building in Canada. On the very tiop floor there was a restaurant. I also heard that it was leaning to one side so that would be enough to chsange my mind about going up in it . I guess I am a real coward!
There is a tower that I can run into and be safe!Wise old King Solomon said in PROV. 19:10 the name of the LORD is strong tower: the righteous runneth into it and is safe. kING DAVId also said in psalms 18:2 The lord is my rocl, and my fortress, and my deliverer, my God, my strength, In whom I will trust, my buckler and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. , again in Psalms 46:1 David said God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in troublr! It isn’t because of my righteousness that I can run into this tower as the Bible tells me thar my righteousness is as filthy rags in His sight. Jesus precious blood has washed my sins away and as long as I live my life for Jesus I am righteous when He sees me through His Blood, Therefore He is my strong Tower and when the storms of life blow hard against me I can run into that Tower and be safe!
When He sees me, He sees the Blood of the Lamb. He sees me as worthy and not as I am. He seesw me in garments as white as the snow. For the Lamb of God is worthy and He washed me this I know!

Leaning!

When we were young every summer I looked forward to my distant cousin’s visit. We always had such a good time together! She had his standing joke – Are you a PLP?” Why of course” I would reply I am a pretty little princess”,she would then put her elbow on my shoulder and leaning hard, say :You are a PLP, public leaning post, but I am the pretty little princess! Many moons have passed since that time, now I have four granddaughters of my own that I have joked with and asked “are you a PLP?” if yes.then it was a Public leaning post, if “no” then “Oh, so you are not a pretty little princess.Huhmm!”
Have you ever felt ill and weak and just wished for something to lean on, a PLP? This past summer I had to go to St.John Regional Hospital.I was really feeling miserable that day! Hubby let me out a few yards from the door. I felt so faint and short of breath, I staggered toward the sidewalk and thought if only I can get to the side of the building I can lean on that until hubby comes along. Just then a lady came toward me. “Are you alright?” she asked. ” I’m fine, just short of breath, I’m going to wait against that wall for my husband who went to park the car,” I replied. “Well,I’m staying with you!” she said. Just then a Volunteer came and told me to stay where I was and don’t move. The fist thing I knew I was being whisked into the hospital in a wheelchair where I waited for twenty minutes for my husband to come. I was so grateful for those two ladies that day!
Now I have never been a pretty little princess but I do hope I have been a PLP for some soul who may have had a need! Everyone needs someone to lean on sometime or other and if I could be there for them and be their PLP
it would make me very happy indeed!
I often think of the story of Samson in the Bible. He fell madly in love with a bad Philistine woman who deceived him. The philstines scoffed at him and made him put on a show for them, It wqs at this time he needed a PLP. he called for a lad and asked to be led to a pillar on which he could lean, He then prayed for strength and God heard and answered Him. When he pulled on the pillar the building fell in and he killed more of Israel’s enemys at his death than while he lived!
I just don’t know what I would do without my special friend whose name is Jesus! He is the best PLP I have ever known! I go to Him many times each day! He told us to cast our burdens upon Him for HE CARETH for us! I’m learning to lean on Him more and more every day!
Learning to lean, I’m learning to lean, I’m learning to lean on Jesus, I’m finding more power than I ever dreamed, I ‘m learning to lean on Jesus!

SELF – SUFFICIENT!

We often hear stories of many people being self sufficient in our father’s day. They depended upon their farms, they kept cattle, pigs, hens and chickens, sheep, foxes, etc. so they had their own meat and milk, butter and eggs and made their own clothing from the wool of the sheep, They also grew their own wheat for bread and flax, oats for the animal’s food and had their vegetable garden to winter them over. This was great and they really were self –sufficient until there was an accident or a drought came and then they lost about everything and found they were really not that self-sufficient after all.

Others went to work for the Government and thought they had found security for life only to be so disappointed when it suddenly came to an end and they too lost all they had and had to rely on others for help, They really were not self -sufficient either!

Many people today still think or may even say they are self-sufficient.  Perhaps may have won a large lottery and are so sure that will be all they need to retire and just take it easy now.  There is absolutely nothing they need now!  They may disown their poorer friends and even their old neighbourhood and build a lovely new couple of million dollar house in the suburbs.  They now own a fine new limousine or some other vehicle and are satisfied with life (self-sufficient) it seems. Yes, life has been so good to them UNTIL their health starts to wane. They then start that downward slope. They may have to give up their new home, car and all else to try to regain their health.  They are now not so self-sufficient as they thought may be only a few days or hours ago.  Many of these cases may be married but then a divorce sets in and they are now devastated. They don’t know that God still loves them and they have nobody else to turn to.  Some lives in this state end in suicide. It is so sad to hear of these or similar cases.

You may ask, well, aren’t you self-sufficient? I can truthfully answer, no, not by a long shot!I have got to have my husband, family and friends. But most of all these things that I need most is my God!  I go to Him and call on His Name, “JESUS” so many, many times, each and every day!  Most of the time upon waking in the morning I”m calling on His Name, also the last thing at night while falling asleep. My family and I need His protection at all times. I can ask anything in His Name and He will answer me.  Thank You, Jesus!  No, I am not self-sufficient!  I don’t need or even want this world’s wealth or fortune!

All in all, All in all, Jesus is my All in  all. He’s my help in time of weariness, my light when shadows fall. JESUS is my All in all!

He is my Everything. He is my All!  He is my Everything, both great and small.  He gave His Life for me. Made everything new.  He is my Everything! – Now how about you?

One Touch

So many things today has these two words written on them -One Touch- I suppose they think we are so gullible as to think that is all it takes, just one simple touch and the thing will automatically do whatever.  For example I have two gadgets with the words one touch on them. One touch tweezers and a One Touch blood monitoring machine. As you probably all know there is more to using these things than one touch!
I think most of us have heard the story of the old violin and the touch of the Master’s hand that made all the difference in the world in the price that it sold for in the Auction. Whenever I read this short story or hear it read it always touches me.
However, I know an even better story that is very true about one touch of the real Master’s Hand.  So many times I have felt the touch of His hand on mine!  Just this very morning as I awakened early, around 4 am., with so much pain that I had to use my other hand to move  my right arm. As I laid there praying to my wonderful Lord and Master the pain just  left and I, without thinking raised my both arms and pulled those blankets right up around me.  That is something I haven’t been able to do for quite a while. I was so excited when I realized what I had just done I called out loud to my husband- “do you know what I just did ?”  Thank you, Jesus for you are great!  He knows where we are and what we
need at all times!
He touched me, Oh, He touched me! And oh, the joy that floods my soul. Something happened, and now I know. He touched me and made me whole!

I was never one of those people who had to have things changed throughout the house several times a year.  I feel that once in ten years is usually enough to try to paper a room, For one thing I can’t afford to do this every whipstitch and now that my family have grown up I don’t think it is necessary. Now if I once again had a house full of little kids who tare the wallaper and get it dirty all the time I would have to do it more often.  When my children were young, every spring and fall was housecleaning time.  Most of the time I wouldn’t  get it quite finished. I can also save my husband a lot of frustration by not changing my furniture around all the time, as he always said he never knew where the bed was going to be!.  I do  like a clean, comfortable  home, mine sometimes has too much clutter! Then once again it is time for that cleaning to take place. I once had a very special friend who always kept her home looking so nice, She has since gone on and I miss her so much! It was never overdone and she always made us feel so comfortable when we visited but how she did love to change it often.

My son often drops in after a hard day of working and he is absolutely.covered with dirt, grease and grime. After a few minutes he will say “well, I guess it is time for me to go home and hop into the shower”. When he returns a little later you would hardly recognize him . It is really amazing what a little soap and water can do, isn’t it? What a change!

There are times when we may feel so dirty and unclean by something we may have said or done that was not quite right. We may even say “I think I will hop into the shower, I just feel so dirty”  This is the kind of filthiness that soap and water cannot remove. It takes much more than a shower to help us feel good about ourselves, It is this kind of uncleanness that Jesus went to the cross for. He knew that we were all born in sin and shaped in iniquity and there would be no cleansing in ourselves except through  His precious blood. In Saint John 3:5  Jesus said “Except a man be born of the water and of the Spirit , he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. Verse 16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only   begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but habe everlasting life” 1 John 2:2  says …it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. Verse 2 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as He is pure.  Thank You., Jesus, for your precious Word!  He has the answer for everything  and it sure makes me feel good!  What a difference this change can make!  It is not only for me but for the whosoever will!

He changed my life. He made me happy. He gave me peace beyond compare.  He promised me He would never leave me and if I ever had a problem, I could call and He would be there!!
