There are so many things I wish someone would find a cure for. We say if only they could find a cure for cancer or heart disease, diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, etc. and we could name so many more going right on down the line. There are obituaries in the paper every day.  I have been told there is at least one or more persons dying every minute in this old sin cursed world. A lady was in our home the other day whose mother has terminal cancer. Not only do people die from heart disease and other diseases but there are also other causes too such as automobile accidents, drug overdose, alcohol, suicides etc, We may think we may not know the cause of most of  these deaths but all in all everything I have

named are the results of sin. We can take all of these right back to Adam and Eve, the first man and woman created by God, in the garden of Eden.Instead of obeying God’s command not to eat of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and of evil they chose to eat the fruit after listening to Satan’s deceptive spiel, thinking they would be wise. Oh what an awful web we weave when first we practice to deceive! Adam blamed Eve and Eve blamed Satan . In reality Eve was to be blamed for her disobedience.

It was after this that their son , Cain, committed murder when he killed his brother, Abel. More and more people practiced deception  and sin began to reign here on earth. Satan is very happy when he sees us fall as he wants company in hell , that is his destination and all who follow him.

However, there is a cure for all the things I mentioned above  and i would like to tell you about the cure. It came roughly 2000 years ago. He came to earth as a Babe in a manger. Most people of that day didn’t take too much thought of Him.  We don’t know a lot about him until He was about 30 years old, other than He went about doing good along with a few of His miracles. His name was Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Most of the christian community hated Him because He brought out a lot of the hypocricy of that day. He called sin what it was! They even crucified Him thinking they could get rid of Him Three days later arose from the grave just like He said He would! When He was on earth He healed diseases, opened blind eyes, made the lame to walk again, even raised the dead. He gave his disciples this same power to go forth in His Name, through faith in His Name, to cast out demons and cure diseases. He also gave Peter the keys to Salvation that anyone who believes in His name and takes on His Name in water baptism and the Holy Spirit can still have the same power to cure demons and sin through faith in His wonderful Name! Oh what a cure He has given us, if only others would fine this cure too what a change there would be in this old world!

In the Name of Jesus, In the Name of Jesus we have the victory. In the Name of Jesus, In the Name of Jesus demons will have to flee. Tell me who can stand before us when we come in His Great Name, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus. We have the victory!

What a great relief it is to hear the Doctor say “all is well”. The last report may have caused him to say “I;m sorry, but all ia not well, there is something here we will have to check out. He sends us for all different kinds of tests and of course we worry and always think the worst. When we get the results back he may say “we have checked everything out and all is well. Those awful worries and  burdens just seem to float away and we feel like shouting out to everyone “all is well”!

Perhaps you may have an ill child in hospital. I know how it feels when Doctor says “I don’t know if he or she will make it or not”. All three of my  children were in hospital at eleven months of age. They were all comatose when we had to leave them with the doctors and nurses, not knowing what the future held for them. When we went back we were told “we think they will make it now as all is well. What a relief it was! God has been so good to us has extended His grace to us so many times! We once had a play at Church on the parable of the five foolish and five wise virgins that Jesus taught in Matthew 25:1-12. At 11 pm. all was well but then the five foolish ran out of oil just before the Bridegroom  got there and the wise wouldn’t lend them any of theirs in case  they didn’t have enough for themselves so they went looking for oil. At midnight the Bridegroom came and they all went to the wedding but when the five foolish returned the door was closed  and they couldn’t get in.Although they knocked on the door the Bridegroom said “I never knew you.” It will pay to have our lamps, filled, clean and ready when Jesus Christ comes to call His chlldren home.

When we come to the end of our journey here on earth and the physicians say “there is nothing more we can do for you : will we  be able to say “that is okay, it is well with my soul?” When we meet our maker will He say”Well done, enter into the rest I have prepared for you, my good and faithful servant!”

Let us live for Jesus, that is all that matters. He is the one who gave His life for me and you. Will we be able to say on that day “all is well with my soul?”  My sin – oh the bliss of this glorious thought – my sin – not in part but the whole, is nailed to the cross and I bear it no more. – praise the Lord, praise the Lord, o my soul! It is well… with my soul…it is well,  it is well with my soul!

Until then is an expression we use so much but do we really appreciate what we are saying?  We may have company drop by and when they leave we often say ‘we will see you later but “Until then” we don’t know for sure just what will take place”. We may have company coming on a certain date but “until then” we have to get the house in order.

When our children are little they may want a certain thing and are determined to have it although it may be for an older child .  When you get to be 16 yrs. old you may have it, but not  “until then”.  The answer for now is “no”.  When they get a bit older they may want to drive the car  while they are still not old enough for  a license .  You may have to   say  “no, not until” you are old enough for a license, though their birthday may be just a few days away.

We may visit the Doctor . He may say we will have do do surgery but “until then” I will try to help you with medications. See you later and Good luck “until then”.

When Jesus ascended on high he said “I will come again and  receive you unto myself , that where I am , there ye may  be also”. He also gave us instructions that we need to  obey and live by “until then”.  This could be the dawning of that day . When the saints of all the ages are awaiting His returning. This could be the dawning of that day!  And “until then” with joy i’ll carry on Until the day God calls me home!

  • What excitement there is when Royalty is about to visit our fair province. The Government spends so much  money to prepare for their visit, they try to have everything in tip-top shape for them. The roads, streets, and highways are prepared along with Parliament Buildings, hotels, etc, so that everything will be presentable for Royalty. They usually take  them along only the nicest and cleanest part of whatever city they are visiting and most of the time they are introduced to only the most elite of our fair Province.

A gentleman who lived at our home for quite a few years used to tell us about working as a laborer on the Doaktown roads after a flood took a bridge out and King  George 5 and I believe it was  and Queen Victoria who were visiting New Brunswick at that time had to stay in Doaktown overnight. The      next morning the King’s procession came along as the workers were working. The workers all removed their hats and watched the Procession in awe as passed slowly by. If I recall right, he said the procession paused on their way past the workers  but all they could see through the dark glass in the windows was the Queen’s white gloved hand waving. Everett would get so emotional each time he told this story.

I remember in 1959 that Princess Margaret came to visit Fredericton. Everyone was so excited as Royalty was once again visiting our fair city. The streets were lined with people who were waiting, so anxious to catch a glimpse of the Princess but all that most people could see once again  was the gloved white hand waving. What a disappointment to so many people!

The Queen recently visited Ottawa, my cousins, Stacey and Tanya along with her 2 boys and their husbands were there and saw her on screened TV. The Queen was with the Prime Minister and was walking about shaking hands with the people.  Time has certainly changed. our Queen today is a very spunky lady. I would certainly love to meet her in person. My brother, Eldon, has been in  England on more than one occasion because of his work and had the chance to walk past the Queen’s palace. That would be a great honor!

I am getting anxious for our great King to come. The first time He came to this old world he came in flesh as a man. He was born in a manger in Bethlehem and was hated by many, including the King of that day. King Herod tried to kill him and had all the baby boys aged 2 yrs. and under destroyed. Joseph obeyed God and hid him from the King by fleeing into Egypt. God,s Word tells us as He grew that He went about doing good. While here on earth he did many miracles such  as healing all manner of sickness, casting out demons, healed blinded eyes, causing the lame to walk, the deaf to hear, healing the broken hearted, raising the dead and preaching the gospel, etc. When he was only 33 years of age they crucified him, nailing him to the cross, to which He went willing knowing that in three days He would rise again. They didn’t take His life, He willing laid it down for this old sinful world. He gladly accepted His fate so that you and I could have eternal life.  He is soon  coming once again for His people who have been redeemed by His precious blood. Oh what a difference this time. He is coming as King of all Kings, robed in white and coming in the clouds of Glory!

He is coming in Glory to take His bride away. It may be in the morning, or it may be at midday, in the evening or midnight the trump will sound so clear. The dead in Christ and we that live, His voice shall hear!  But it will be different the next time You come just wait and see.  You have a lot of lonely children and one of them is me. You know we want to see you, we’re never really at home, So if you’re waiting to be invited, Lord Jesus, please come!

My husband is a wonderful man with great determination and I also have a son who is just as determined. When they get something in their head  I may just as well keep quiet as they will do what they want anyway regardless of what anyone else tries to tell them!  Most of the time they have very good ideas ,I must admit , but sometimes I get very provoked  with them. Of course, if I get a bright idea most  of the time they think it a foolish one, it doesn’t matter how good an idea I had. Sometimes I don’t think a mule could  be any more determined (or just plain stubborn)lol, than these two. I must also add that determination is one of the things that attracted me to my husband in the first place. I knew he wouldn’t be a wishey washey husband.  He meant what he said and he said what he thought, regardless of what it was. I always sought his advice on everything as I felt I could always depend on him. So to be strong-willed is good if used in the right way, if not, it can be disasterous!

I notice some youth are quite strong-willed today. A lot of people would rather take their own mind for things and learn the hard way than to listen to those who have been through the mill, while there are the wise ones who will ask for advice  because they don’t want their lives to end in heartache and sorrow. If young people  would just commit their lives to the Lord, he has a plan for each one and everything  would then turn out so much better.

You may say “I can’t turn to God now, not after the life I have lived, I’ve gone too far. It’s too late now.”  That is not true! Jesus is willing and ready to help you, although Satan desires to have your soul and will do all he can to deceive you, just keep your hand in the Lord’s hand and keep trusting Him.  He won’t let you down or go stray if you are determined to walk with Him all the way home. Stand for God and be strong in him for he is surely coming soon!  Be DETERMINED ! Matt.8:20 And He said “Lo, I am with you alway even unto the end of the world.’

Stand up,
Stand up for Jesus, ye soldiers of the cross.Lift high His Royal  Banner. It must not suffer loss! From Victory unto Victory  His army shall He lead Till every foe is vanquished and Christ is Lord indeed.

A Firm Foundation

Have you ever watched a building go up?  People don’t usually build on a swampy area unless they have tons of rock, to build their foundation on.  Than again, I don’t think they would build upon sand .  The foundation would be shaking around until eventually the building would give away and fall after all the hard work and the cost of the building.  Most people build on good ground.

After seven (7) years of marriage and living in a small three (3) room house with three (3) children we decided to build a house.  We purchased a piece of ground from my Dad and Roy went to work. He cut the trees, sawed and planed the lumber.  He then borrowed a tractor and dug a huge hole for to put in a foundation.  It was slow hard work but he knew what he wanted and he did it himself after working on appliances all day.  I remember helping him lay the blocks.  They were so heavy and he cemented them together to make a firm foundation.  It was two (2) years later that we moved into our new home.  In that two (2) year period he had to keep the basement or foundation heated to keep it from cracking.

There have been things happen beyond our control to cause a few cracks in the foundation.  One was a couple of earth tremors and than Camp Gagetown shooting their monstrously guns, caused a few cracks but not enough to do much damage.  I’ve always loved our home even though he had to make a few changes in plans when building.  Our Pastor at the time was Brother John Nickerson who was also a carpenter and he helped Roy with the main part of the building.  I guess I told you in another story about trying to help him stand the outside walls up.  I do hope to be able to spend the rest of my life here on earth or until Jesus comes for us, in this home with my wonderful husband.

In the meantime I want to keep building a firm foundation so that my life on earth will stand strong for God.  That having done all to with- stand the wiles of the enemy I will just stand and be ready when the trumpet sounds and Jesus appears to take me to my heavenly home.  I don’t want to be like the foolish man that Jesus spoke about who built his house upon the sand.  When the winds blew and the rains came he was washed away and the house fell flat.  I want to be like the wise man who built his house upon the rock.  The winds blew and the rains came but the house stood firm upon the rock.

When the trumpet sounds, when the trumpet sounds I’m going to reign with Him eternily won’t that be heavenly in great reality when I receive God’s immortality when the trumpet sounds!
