My Best Friend

Everyone needs a best friend! I remember when I was in the early grades I had a best friend. Beverly and I were really close. I could probably take you to the spot next to the cemetery where we buried all our treasures in the moss, ex. Pieces of erasers, pretty glass, rocks, etc. It was a sad day when she left here. I then had another best friend, Madeline. She too left at age l8 years and I was just lost. We kept in touch for a few years but she passed away at an early age. She left behind as husband and two children. I was so sad.[MC1]

I have made several friends since then and a few are very close. I love these ladies in whom I can confide. One by one they slowly leave this life and how lonely it is for the ones that are left behind.

Now I have a BEST Friend once again. He is also my husband’s best friend. We chat with Him often. He is always near and has promised to never leave us alone. We tell Him all our problems and He always, I say always, leads us through each one. He has never left us hanging in the balance. He loves us so much that He once gave His live for us and arose again! If we keep Him as our best friend He will take us to our heavenly home one day. We won’t have to cross Jordan alone. He will carry us across. His name is Jesus, my wonderful friend! You can have Him for a best friend too. Won’t you try Him today? He is a real gentleman and won’t force His way into your life. He would be so happy if you will accept Him into your heart as a special friend! He is my very best friend! What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and grief to bear. What a privilege to carry everything to Him in prayer. Thank you Jesus for being my best friend!

Words

You have heard the old cliche’, "if you play with fire you are apt to get burned"! I have always had a great respect for fire. If it is handled in the right way it is a marvelous thing, First of all you have to know how to start a fire. I learned this at a very young age as we had wood and coal stoves and oil lamps in our home when I was a child. If it hadn’t been for fires we wouldn’t have been able to see after the sun went down or even on dark days and come winter we would have all frozen to death. We used fire in our lamps and to keep warm but most importantly to cook our meals.but we were taught at an early age to never, never play with fire.

Oh yes, I have had a few accidents and burned myself with fire and also was the cause of burning our woodshed and Dad’s garage and workshop down flat to the ground! It was as I say an accident. One very hot summer day I was cleaning the ashes from the woodstove as my friend thought she wanted to bake an apple pie. I put the ashes on the usual ash pile, but there was a breeze that day and beforeI knew it the whole thing was on fire! God in his mercy saved our house which had also started to burn. ( the house where my sister lives today). I’m so glad we knew how to pray!

I was also taught at an early age not to play around with the things of the world. I have been tested and tempted but God has kept me down through the years. I have made many mistakes and have many regrets but God who is my keeper and strength has promised to never leave me. Sometimes you can accidently get burned but God always sees us through these times and will pick us up and set us on our feet once again. Thank you Jesus! He knows the way that I take and when I am tried I shall come forth as pure gold. They tell me at gold must go through the fire in order to be pure. Well friend, I have news for you! You too, must be tested and tried and put through the fire, as it were, but you don’t have to go through alone. Seek God’s divine will for your life and stay away from the things of the world. He alone is our refuge and srength!

Young people, I admonish you to get on your knees and stay there until you hear from God. He alone can direct your life and keep you true to the end, as he alone knows the beginning and the end! Ecc. 12:1

Older folks, we have come too far to turn back now, Just any day now our Lord is coming. This could be the hour and this could be the day. So Christs once offered to bear the sins of many and to them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation. So friend, let’s keep on trucking for the Lord and stop playing with fire and the things of this old world. James 1;27 – Pure rerligion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and the widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

Somebody recently said to me "You have a way with words". Although I knew I was being praised for an article I had written it could also have had a very different meaning. It could have meant that I was using words to do evil things or to my own advantage.

So many times I have said something that I afterward regretted. I may have hurt someone else by using a hateful or nasty word. I have had to go back and ask forgiveness so many times and they have so graciously forgiven me. I know from experience that they never ever forget. It is almost always lingering in the back of a person’s mind who has been hurt. It really takes the Spirit of God to overcome our hurts and help us along the way, set us back up on our feet.

Then again by our words we can really be a help to others. A word of encouragement or comfort may be just what they need. Maybe they are feeling very low, left out, or thinks nobody cares. It is in times like these a word of hope can do wonders!

So let us guard our words when speaking of others. It is much better to say nothing at all than to gossip about someone else. Remember it is the finger that points to another but the thumb always points back at us.

I read that a conversation was heard millions of miles away in outer space that had been voiced hundreds of years before here on earth. If my words are going that far I want only good things to come from my lips!

King Solomon, in all his wisdom, said in Proverbs 25:11 – A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver! Oh Lord, please let my words be given with the wisdom of King Solomon!

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight,
Oh Lord my strength and my redeemer. Psalms 19:14

Snuggling Up

Snuggling up!

It all started when I was very little. Mom would snuggle with us and sing. Oh, how she would sing. We loved it! Then Dad who would often babysit us when Mom went to church, as they had to take turns, would snuggle up with us all on the bed as he spun story after story. I remember distinctly Dad snuggling with my brother and I in the old wooden rocking chair and telling us stories (sometimes very scary and often sad). We loved these times and looked forward to them!

I remember sometimes my sister would say “let’s just snuggle”. Then you all remember snuggling up to your boyfriend, or girlfriend .Oh yes, those were the days, eh!

Now that I am an old married woman I still love to snuggle! Just ask my husband! Before I get up in the morning I love to snuggle with my hubby! Just to feel his closeness and his arms of protection about me. What a wonderful feeling! I just love it! This is a time when we can talk. We can tell each other what bothers us, ask favors, etc. Just that closeness! My favorite old song is “Put your arms around me Honey, hold me tight, cuddle up and snuggle up with all your might,” Do you snuggle? Try it! You will love it! It may just save a marriage that is a little rough, for who can resist snuggling up?

Then I love to awaken early in the morning and spend some time just snuggling up with Jesus! And do you know what? I believe He loves it too! Oh yes I do! He loves to snuggle with us! Sometimes I say, “it’s me again Lord and I just want to snuggle with you for awhile Jesus”. I then tell him how much I love Him and ask His favors on me throughout the day.

John 13:21 says “Now there was leaning on Jesus bosom one of His disciples, whom Jesus loved”.

(Put your arms around me , Jesus, hold me tight, cuddle up and snuggle up with all your might). I just want to lean on Jesus and to feel his arms of love about me. I want to get closer and closer until I am saturated with His sweet Holy Spirit. We can never get too close to Jesus, but when we get close enough to Him we can ask what we will and H will give it to us! Oh yes He will as He is our heavenly father and He loves us so much! Oh yes He does – far more than we can ever imagine!

If you want to feel His Presence just try snuggling with Him! Yes!!

Giving Thanks

Giving Thanks

Have you ever received a gift and sent a note of thanks to the sender, or even picked up the phone and said”Thank You”? This way they know that you appreciate their thoughtfulness. It really makes you both feel good.

On the other hand you may have given someone a gift and they just ignored the fact they had received anything from you. That is when we say to ourselves “ Well so much for that gift, they won’t be getting another from me”! Then when their big day arrives again it is the same old story all over again but we won’t wait for a “Thank You” this time. Some people are just so ungrateful.

Then again it really irks me when I thank somebody for something they have done for me (I love to thank them for a gift or perhaps something they have done and it doesn’t have to be great) but all they say is “yeah” or “uh huh”. They don’t seem to know the little words such as, you are welcome, or I am pleased to do it for you!

I wonder if we sometimes forget to thank God properly for all He has done for us. Perhaps we ignore the fact that He gave His life for us, the greatest of all gifts! When we hear the story of salvation we just maybe say “Oh yeah, is that really true, or Uh huh I have heard that many times! Oh how stiffnecked , hardhearted we have become, and just too busy to stop and say “Thank You Jesus”! Until the next time we need something from Him, that is. 1Thess. 5:18 tells us “In everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you”.

When we begin to thank the Lord from the bottom of our heart He knows that we really do appreciate what He has done for us. He too appreciates our thankfulness. As we continue to give Him thanks for all His wondrous blessings He will continue to pour His Spirit out upon us until we are endued with power from on high.

Thanks, Thanks, I give Him thanks for all He has done. I am so blessed, my soul has found rest.. Oh, Lord, I give you thanks!

A Brand New Start!

The sign over the door says "A New Start Allergy Clinic". I really don’t know what it is but I would imagine it to be a place where you can talk about foods or other troublesome things that bother you. They can tell you what things to stay away from. Start from the beginning and stay away from whatever makes you ill or give you medication that will help. In the beginning God supplied us with everything that we would need in this life. Man has invented so many additives that our food is almost too contaminated to consume, Our clothes are what really bugs me sometimes! Wouldn’t you just love to get your hands on Adam and Eve? A sweet new baby has just drawn his first breath and we say "Oh my, what a great start he had?" But as time goes on things change and that little one may become ill or have some hard knocks in life. Oh what a pleasure it is to awaken early in the morning before dawn and watch as the darkness disappears into the daylight and we can see the glow of the sun coming up in the eastern sky, beginning a brand new day that has just begun!Whether it rains or shines we can say "this is the day that the Lord has given us let us rejoice and be glad in it"!Yes like cake He also has given us our breath and life to go along with the day. Another new day, a brand new start for the rest of our life. Let us live each day so that He gets all the glory! When we repent of our sins and Christ comes into our heart we feel so good! Oh what a change! We can then say "We have a brand new start!"

Little Lights!

I once read a story about an oldtime lighthouse keeper whose light had ran out of oil. That night the fog came rolling in and made it impossible for ships to reach the shore. The old man couldn’t go to bed and to sleep knowing that out there somewhere in thar fog there would probably be a ship that would run into a rocky shoal and be destroyed. Most of the ships were made of wood and if they happened to strike a rock it would puncture a hole in the hull. This would cause the ship to sink and all would be lost, including the captain and his crew. As he thought about this he knew he had no way of getting any more oil or he too would be lost out in that fog! He happened to remember the old desk up in the attic. So he made his way up to the attic and there he found a little candle on the old desktop. He lit the candle and made his way to a window facing out into the fog. Sometime in the early morning hours he heard somebody at his door. When he opened the door there stood a captain who couldn’t thank him enough for the little light that had guided him to safety through the dense fog.

Have you ever gone for a walk on a dark night? In years gone by we had to walk to church services. By the time we would get home, sometimes 11pm. or later, On a dark rainy night it would be pitch black. Once in a while we would see somebody coming with a flashlight, oh what joy, some light at last! They may have come to meet us and say just follow me and I will light the way home! As long as the light was on it was great but if the batteries got weak the light would go out and we were, it seemed, worse off than before. It just seemed so much darker after having a bit of light. In recent years I usually keep a flashlight beside my bed just in case the powewr goes off and the lights go out, because when they do, I panic, I use my little flashlight to find a lamp or candles. I have never liked to sit in the dark (my husband does). I for some reason dread the blackness of night. I would never want to be blind and not able to see the light.

God in the beginning had an excellent plan! He too loves light! The earth was void and without form and He said “let there be light”. The Bible tells us there was light and God saw it and was pleased! When man plunged into sin the human race was thrown into darkness that was worse than the blackest night, Again God had a plan to set us free once again from this awful darkness, In St.John 9:5 Jesus said “I am the light of the world, John 1:8 He was that light which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. He was in the world and the world was made by Him and the world knew Him not. How sad, if only they would have known Him they would have had light but their eyes were blinded. When Jesus opened the blind man’s eyes he was more than willing because he wanted to see the light How awful when people do not wnat to see the light of God;s Word and continue to walk in darkness When Peter stood and preached on the day os Pentecost they who were in the daekness of sin asked “What must we do to be saved?” He replied in Acts 2:38 “Repent and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, For the promise is unto you, and your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call”. How wonderful it must have been! At long last the light shone on them! That day about 3000 souls were added to the church of the living God! Acts 4:12 – neither is there salvation in any other: for there is no other name given among men, whereby we must be saved, ! John 1:5-“This then is the message we have heard of Him, and I declare unto you that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all,” So if we follow that Light and walk as children of that Light we won’t have to fear being lost in the darkness! MATT,5:16 “let your light so shine beforemen that they may see your good works and glorify youe Father which is in heaven. This little light of mine I’m going to let it shine to guide somebody else along the was with His help!
